Straight from the island of DR Moreau, hybrid animal-humans coming to a neighborhood near you.

Google Acquires Facial Recognition Software Company PittPatt

Interesting technology PittPatt has here,  Imagine having your picture taken and through facial recognition software someone being able to compile a detailed list of information on you.

The real jump start to this technology will be when this is effectively developed into some type of security monitoring. Most likely being used in airports, train stations and other forms of mass transit.

This story also reminds me of the Spielberg sci-fi classic Minority Report, in which eye scanners are use in security as well as retail.  Check the link below for a short clip from the movie.

To put a final note on the topic, this kind of technology has been in development for some time and looks like there is starting to be some progress. With Google behind the wheel an with there deep pockets, we might actually see this is the future.
